On Cooperation

It is way past time for a change at the heart of the Democratic Party. As long as the DNC leadership is convinced that they can continue with business as usual, that's exactly what they will do. Nothing more. Pelosi and the rest of the corporatist Democrats have stated over and over that they are not willing to consider single-payer healthcare. They have done nothing about the student loan problem but make it worse. They have let the Republicans walk all over them and their policies with barely a whimper in protest. The Clintons were and are as crooked as a dog's hind leg, and yet they treated Hillary as if she was the ordained savior of the party. Even after seeing how close Bernie came even with the rigged primaries, the DNC refused to even consider adding any of his ideas to the party's platform, but that didn't stop them from announcing to all and sundry that they were now the party of "Progressives" and that we should all join in for a lovely round of Kumbaya at the campfire. They are doing exactly what the Republicans are doing when they wail that they are trying so very haaaard to work across the aisle! What they mean is that they'll be happy to work with Democrats, as long as Dems do exactly what they want! The only way to get the Democratic party's attention is to refuse to do what they order. Maybe, just maybe if enough hold out for what is right, somebody at the DNC will wake up enough to allow a smidgeon of progressive ideology to sneak in.
